FRANCE’S BEST KNOWN POP-JAZZ SENSATION NOUVELLE VAGUE COMING TO ESTONIA

Details of event

Nouvelle Vague, the star of a new music trend from France that play pop-jazz cover versions of rock hits, will perform at the Nokia Concert Hall on 23 March. This brilliant modern jazz band will give a new, intimate sound to the famous hits of Blondie, Depeche Mode and The Police.

Nouvelle Vague are inspired by the French cinema of the 1960s, café culture and new trends in jazz and are considered one of the most interesting performers of cover versions in today’s pop-jazz by both critics and audiences.

Nouvelle Vague, who constantly experiment with new lead singers, will visit Estonia during their world tour. The band have promised to show our audiences a completely new approach to the songs of Depeche Mode, Billy Idol, The Cure and many other top musicians.

The unique approach of Nouvelle Vague to songs in English attracted a lot of attention when they released their first album in 2004. The band have so far released three albums and a compilation of their best songs, and won fans all over the world. Nouvelle Vague love experimenting with jazz and have even created an acoustic version of God Save the Queen by the Sex Pistols.

The band’s success is also underlined by their performances with such acclaimed acts as Depeche Mode and Moby, who visited Estonia in 2009.

The work of Nouvelle Vague has also been used by Hollywood. Some examples include the box office hit Mr. and Mrs. Smith and the TV series Nip/Tuck, Glee and Grey’s Anatomy.

Nouvelle Vague was founded by musicians Marc Collin and Olivier Libaux. The band has invited the best French musicians to join them on their albums and in concert. French music star Vanessa Paradis, who is married to Johnny Depp, has also contributed to the success of the band.
