The East wind brings a new nanny to the Banks family living on Cherry Tree Lane – Mary Poppins, an extremely vain and self-conscious woman with magical skills. The Banks children, Michael and Jane, get into incredible adventures with her. Unfortunately, Mary is to stay only until the wind changes…

Most of the music featured in the musical was created for the Sherman Brothers’ movie, but some new songs have been added, written by George Stiles and Anthony Drewe.

On the opening night in London in 2004 Mary was played by Laura Michelle Kelly, who received a Lawrence Olivier Award for her performance. On Broadway the musical was staged in 2006.
